Both the mother (assume dad didn't post) and the daughter. Grooming often involves both the victim and the parent.

Grooming is when a person prepares a child and their parents, carers and environment for sexual abuse. Grooming involves building a trusting relationship with a child or family over many weeks, months and years. This allows the person who is grooming to spend more and more time with the child. It lays the groundwork for sexual abuse later on.

I don’t think it was. I’m surprised that you took that comment and assumed ill intent. What in that exact comment made you come to that conclusion?

But the one I loved the most came from my husband. He said I make our clothes smell good.

A guy friend (who was single, I wasn't) said he wanted to find someone like me. Was NOT hitting on me, just a very nice compliment.

I was once staying in a hostel in Australia in the 90s with about 15 people in the room (most of them from former USSR countries), and I was told my English was "very good". Oddly that one has stuck with me.

I was at senior prom and was chatting with one of the chaperones who was a teacher that I kind of knew, but never had for any subject. Out of the blue, she told me that her girls were 5 and 7 and that she really hoped that they would grow up to be teens like me. It was such a nice thing to hear. I wasn't class president, valedictorian, or prom queen or anything. I was just, what I considered, a pretty normal girl. It was nice for another adult to see that I was a good person and want that for her own children.

My daughter a couple of months ago thanked me for helping her navigate her childhood and early teen years. She struggled with learning disabilities and needed lots of different therapies etc. I juggled all of her appts while also working full time (my DH has zero flexibility with work). It felt really good to hear her appreciation although I didn't need it and I would do anything for my kids.

Several people have told me that I was their best boss and that I helped them build skills that advanced their careers. Those comments made me feel SO good because I believe in mentoring and creating work environments where people thrive. One of the people emailed me out of the blue years and years after they worked for me. It was one of the best emails I've ever gotten

I don't know.

But recently I wanted to show my husband a music video and I said he didn't have to watch it if he didn't have time and he said "I want to watch it if you want me to, because you have really good taste."

I had no idea he thought that. Felt very nice.
