Have you been to Liberty? I haven’t. But I know several people who have gone there for the day for various sporting events and all have said it’s a really nice campus and area. Maybe it’s really beautiful in person, which is what this list is supposedly ranking.

Who knows what criteria they used. That's why most of these lists are kind of silly.

Everyone's idea of what makes a beautiful campus is different anyway. Some like Gothic architecture, but others like Georgian, or Romanesque, or Spanish Renaissance. Some like red brick, some prefer limestone. Mountain settings are lovely but who's to say that's better than a coastal school, or one that's flat and inland with lots of trees.

Yeah, some campuses are clearly less attractive, but there are probably at least 50 that could be legit contenders for a list like this.

DP. There are hundreds of clubs, club sports, and organizations available as well as lots of outdoor activities in the mountains (hiking, camping, rafting, climbing, caving, etc). Residential life includes lots of LLPs, if that's your thing. There is Greek life for those interested, but less than 20% go Greek, so the majority of students don't rush. Honestly, it's a little surprising that you toured the school but didn't ask about these things while you were there. There's also google...

Every on campus thing you just rattled off can be found at nearly every college. Nothing here suggests why VT would be "best" ranked for "on-campus offerings". Honestly.

I went to Miami for undergrad and Indiana for graduate school. Both were very pretty campuses. When I was at IU, I was in the weird position of feeling like I'd taken a slight step down; which, given how beautiful IU is, felt vaguely ridiculous.

The two have different kinds of beauty though. IU has a kind of pastoral layout, taking advantage of the natural contours of the campus. And it features buildings made from the local Indiana limestone. Meanwhile, Miami takes a very Enlightenment approach with its straight lines and geometric patterns. Its buildings have a consistent red brick, Georgian architecture.

Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Chicago, West Point, Colorado, William and Mary, Notre Dame, WashU, Duke
