I am born in August. My colleague was born in May of the following year. We were in the same grade in school. She still tries to act like we are NOt the same age, and she in fact, is quite a bit younger. Is OP my colleague in 12ish years?

I agree with others; you are in the same age range. I mean, unless you are in your 20's, maybe. But at some point, five years is considered the same ageish.

My DH is 5 years older than me and I consider us to be around the same age. I sometimes tease him that he’s a different generation than me b/c I’m a millennial and he’s Gen X. But really it’s close enough.

Sandra bullock graduated high school in 1982. IMO there is little difference in age between people who graduated high school in '82 v. '87 -- signed '94, who would also consider myself about your age.

Maybe you need to step up your skin care regimen

After college, it is common to refer to people within the same decade of life as a group. e.g. the 30-somethings, 40-somethings, those in their 50's, hexagenerians and so on.

54 and 59 are essentially the same age.
