You sound like a narcissist. Narcs can't understand that other people are different than their own twisted, sick fragile egos!

And yet somehow you can't understand that other people do not enjoy life and have personalities different from you. That doesn't make them narcissists. It might make YOU one, though.

I'm not being fake at work, but I'm definitely more friendly at work than I am in real life. As a manager I'm just not going to scream and curse people out, so I smile. Being kind is part of my work persona.
How is that not faking it? What do you get from being friendlier at work? Something, right? Otherwise why bother?

It takes so much energy and effort to put on an act, PP. 99.99% of people aren't going to do that. They might exaggerate part of their personality for the workplace if they find it works for them... but it's not fake in the sense that they already have tendencies to be that way naturally.
I would have to fake it. That's why I worried.
I mean either you are depressed, or a narcisist.
Yeah, I'm not a narcissist because I don't like being manipulated into hiring someone.

She was perky throughout the entire interaction, and I realize this might be my dour personality coming out, but...she seemed faked. Who says "We're going to have so much fun!" in a an email? Not worried about the lack of professionalism as much as I am that she's manipulated me into hiring her by being over the top friendly. Or are some people just like this?
