Of course. My regular stops include Aldi, Food Lion, HMart and Costco.

I used to go to Lidl but they really jacked up prices during COVID. You can get some nice deli meats and cheeses, and the bakery is nice, but otherwise there's no real reason to stop. Might as well go to Harris Teeter.

Aldi is best for things like nuts and crackers that are non-perishable and are still edible even after every corner has been cut in ingredients, manufacturing, packaging, and refrigeration.

It’s good for the basics, have to buy organic for fruit such as strawberry and apple or it might taste weird.

I stop there occasionally for a few items, would probably go more often if 1) it was in a larger space with more parking, 2) had a better variety of and fresher produce, 3) we ate more meat (sure is cheap there), 4) I could buy everything I need without having to go somewhere else. I just find it hard to do a comprehensive shopping trip there.

I would not shop there. They are the grocery stores for low income people. I would be very embarrassed.

You’re a troll. Wealthy people know there’s a hyphen in “low-income”. Pathetic.

Clever way of saying that you are wealthy.
You shop at Aldi? Come on!

Wealthy people order groceries and hyphenate

HHI of $700k and over my dead body are we getting grocery delivery.

HHI of $350k and my time is too valuable to spend pushing a grocery cart and standing in line. $100/yr to have Harris Teeter place my order in my car saves me 40-60 hours per year. That’s time I spend doing things I actually enjoy.

Our HHI is $750k and our housekeeper buys our groceries. I think it just depends what you prioritize. I personally would be thrilled to never go in a grocery store again.

I love HMart. Hidden gem.

OMG. I hope I don't know you IRL.

+1 this phrasing "would you ever" is absurd

I love Aldi and shop there all the time. So efficient. I do also shop at Lotte sometimes and get pantry items via Walmart delivery.
I don’t like LIDL nearly as much. Too disorganized.
There are times (later on Saturday, folks!) that are horrible crowded at Aldi, but that goes for most stores.

I used to shop at Whole Foods when I was young and stupid. Now I’m older and make a lot more money. Aldi all the way.

no because the area I live in is super dense and it's just not worth it! TOO many people all on top of each other and no one gives anyone any personal space at all.

The food is totally fine. However, unless I happen to have the time to go at an off hour (work hours during the week), I'm not shopping there. I just don't have the bandwidth to stand in line with 20 other people to pay and one register open.

HHI $550K and we shop almost exclusively at Lidl.
I have never been able to bring myself to shop at Whole Foods for more than an occasional item. It's just igniting your money.

Harris Teeter and Safeway produce are terrible. TJ’s is all processed goods. If I want to novelty shop, I like balduchi’s in McLean.

You do realize that the meat comes from the same places that the meat in the “regular” grocery stores comes from, right? Not from a separate “low end” farm?

Aldi gets its beef from all the slutty cows down at the trailer park

I buy produce at Aldi. With two kids, we go through it so quickly that it doesn't matter to us if it spoils faster than a regular store and it's the LITERALLY the same brands as major stores for much of the fresh produce, so I don't even know what the difference is (just know that some folks say their produce spoils faster).

Some things are fine - like I can find 2G yogurts or chobani/fage sometimes. Some things, like their shredded cheese, aren't (shredded cheese doesn't melt as nicely, I don't know why). I read ingredients and sometimes there may be additional fillers. However, their Simply Natural brand stuff is great.
