US Park Police are great at arresting young black males for selling bottled water on the Mall, arresting gay men at Meridian Hill Park for trying to find dates, and blowing away drivers who happen to drive away from them. USPP is the most unaccountable police force in the federal bureaucracy. Unless Bowser thought that history of accountability was attractive for the position of MPD chief, this woman will be busy giving sermons and speeches while feral 14 year olds treat the city like a violent playground.

Curious to know what the rank and file cops think. Gotta be demoralizing to have someone like this, with so little relevant experience, in charge

At least in Washington DC, the US Park Police and the uniformed Secret Service have no problem with hot pursuit of violent crime suspects, including for crimes that do not occur on federal land. Thanks to the "Latte Liberal" caucus on the DC Council, MPD is not permitted to do the same and has to rely on the assistance of the Park Police and USSS. Hopefully the new chief will bring not just her working relationships but also some moxie to the job.

She may have close to zero relevant experience but the profile in the post today of her shows that she will inspire criminals to stop doing crime by telling them of her life story

DP. I hope she succeeds but you have to admit the lack of urban municipal police force experience is concerning. I’m keeping an open mind though.
