I think it might be a combination of having a quality team rep and coaching.
A “quality” team rep cannot affect how fast children swim but sure, keep patting yourself on the back there, mom.

But that's ok - I don't need too much credit. I do a real labor of love (still to this day), that has made a real difference enabling more kids to participate in the team. If you were then there, you'll know who I am. If I have been around longer than you, you probably take it for granted, and think this is the way it always has been, and don't know how big of a deal it was to start. (And the team rep also supported this change again - see how much we owe to the team rep - so I don't really take sole credit - I couldn't have done it alone). Now what I do at this point is a pretty well oiled machine and I fly somewhat under the radar these days. But it took a lot of hard work to get to this point. It's been a past 8 year thing for the swim team - moving up divisions every year. It didn't happen overnight.
Anonymous wrote:There are a lot of over the top swim team parents and coaches at Overlee. One of the people running for the board made some statement about fixing the waitlist or our days as a division 1 team are numbered. Like a threat, as if it’s the worse thing possible. On my way out the night before a meet I saw an overlee swim team spirit sign and it’s resemblance to a penis could not have been accidental.

Now, what about those t-shirts? Anyone?
They weren’t awful just will stick out like a sore thumb in D1. Patriotic riff….kinda looked like a Blue Lives Matter shirt.
I believe then, the shirt in question says Osprey Nation with Osprey being the team mascot. I don't personally find that questionable.
DP
That description seems like a typical t-shirt. Nothing controversial.
Thanks

What is our secret bat signal at the pool going to be, so I can find you? I am serious! After we find each other, it can be our mutual secret.
I wasn't at ASR but after this post, I asked around and no one could think of any questionable shirt.
I'll never tell![]()

And of course, we will lose more than we win, probably, so we won't bother you but for a year
