I am 5'7'' woman and he passed me when he was 15.5. I wasn't short in EU, but my growth and puberty hit really late.

14 before starting 8th grade? He should be starting high school.

NP here. He was most likely held back but is it a surprise with a late birthday like August? I mean, I don’t think that is uncommon….

And no, neither of my kids were held back. Just saying it’s not shocking an August boy was held back.

+2 He must have been held back a year. 14 year olds are starting high school not 8th.

He hit his puberty growth spurt early - started at the end of 5th grade when he was 11. He grew 8 inches and his voice changed over that year. It was insane - he has dark, horizontal stretch marks all up and down his back.

Dad is 6'1" but we have several men who are 6'4" on both sides of the family.

My younger son, who is only 10, is already 5'2" and has not hit puberty.

Boys who grow that early tend to stop growing early too. He’ll probably top out at 5’11”.

Yeah. My rising sophomore’s voice hasn’t changed yet and he just started his growth spurt. Still had a lot of baby teeth last year. We grow late. I’m 5’5” and none of my sons were taller than me until around 15.5. The older ones are over 6 feet. The rising sophomore is very skinny and still looks like a kid.

My DS didn’t have big growth spurts until summer after MS. He shot up 9th and 10th, is now 5’11” (4” taller than me). We think he’s not quite done. (DH is 6’1”).

Rising 8th grader, he's about 5'5". Not yet close to me or to his father. His feet are bigger than mine, though.

One passed my height in 8th and Dad's height summer before 10th (and kept going); one is rising 11th and is just getting to my height.

Mom here. DS is entering 8th grade this fall. He passed me (5'6 1/2") last spring. Taking bets on when he will pass Dad (6'0").

Rising 7th grader is just shy of 5’. He has a long way to go before he’s taller than me (5’ 7”).

Sheesh, I’d hope not 17 in 9th grade.

My rising 9th grader is no where near my height (5’10”) and even further from his dad (6’3”). He’s probably about 5’3” now and looks like a 12 year old. Doesn’t turn 14 until Sept.
