The Japanese version is hands down a million times better than the American. The American version comes out white (like many sunscreens) and stings my eyes and feels like I'm wearing regular old Coppertone sunscreen on my face. The Japanese version is off white/yellowish, goes on clear, and after 2 minutes you can't tell you're wearing it. Doesn't sting either.

I like this brand too, but warning that I wouldn't buy it from amazon.

Try the asian brands. They are exactly what you described - feels like nothing on your face in 5 minutes.

Per all the recs above for elta, supergoop, etc, you'll notice the posters say things like "doesn't break me out" or "like the way it feels on". I agree that those brands don't give me pimples, and maybe some people like the "moisturized" feeling they give you, but I don't want my skin to feel like it has something on it. That's why I like the asian brands.

This is silly. The proposition that only European sunscreens block "skin damaging rays" just isn't true. They do have better chemicals, but American sunscreens work.

UVA rays cause wrinkles. American sunscreens don’t contain high or reliable coverage against UVA rays. They don’t even claim to do so. The bottles only refer to “broad coverage”. You are correct that American sunscreens protect again UVB rays which also damage the skin in particular ways. If you are concerned about wrinkles and sun spots, get 50 plus European or Asian sunscreen.

Avobenzone is proven to protect against the entire UVA spectrum, and that's widely available in American sunscreens. It just degrades quickly -- about an hour. But if the sunscreen has octocrylene in it, that stabilizes the avobenzone more. European ones may be better, I haven't really looked. But we can get good sunscreens here too. Which is important, IMO, because they are cheaper than European and therefore accessible to more people.
