I'm very curious why you are the biggest Wilson fan. You certainly aren't alone, I just don't get the adoration. Since Wilson will be mayor for life, I'd really like to understand.
-What he wants is what I want: a diverse and vibrant Alexandria with an economically viable tax base, built on the back transit-oriented (and density-friendly, near transit) development. The Potomac Yard metro is his biggest accomplishment - the opportunity that land presents for the city is unmatched, and we are finally arriving at the good stuff after years of effort. What is happening at Landmark makes all the sense in the world too - take unused undertaxed land and put things on it that serve citizens of Alexandria. We've removed confederate names on his watch, we've revitalized the entire old town waterfront and north old town as well. We are building the kind of mixed use, walkable or transit-oriented neighborhoods that the next generation wants to live in (now we have to make it possible for them to afford to live there, but that's also on the agenda)
-He's absolutely ideologically consistent. He is who he is, he supports what he supports, you know exactly what you're getting with him (and the vast majority of Alexandrians want he wants, which is why we keep voting him back in)
-In addition, he is unmatched in actually getting answers and solutions to small things for people who live here - which is the core of what small local government exists to do (get the trash removed, have roads that work, etc.)
I think our biggest problem as a city is obviously schools - but the city council and mayor have very limited influence there unfortunately. But I appreciate that he lived his values and sent his kids there, unlike many other school board and city leaders before him.
You're being disingenuous, and that's being kind. 36,000 people voted for Wilson in the last mayoral election. That's less than 25% of residents. No way the "vast majority of Alexandrians want what he wants."

People are stupid if they are falling for this. The mayor couldn't even read his cue cards right! Come on. He also seemed like he would have rather be doing something else, no heart in it at all.

Everyone except for the police chief sounds like a robot. Also Wilson totally sucks all around and so does the city manager (the one with the real power). I can't go to the post office, or north OT and now Arlandria in the middle of the day without worrying about being shot.

5 homicides so far in 2023 for a city of what 156,000K people? Per capita that's worse than the Bronx!
They are literally NOT doing ANYTHING about it, just talking about needing tips to solve these crimes not HOW they ARE GOING TO PREVENT CRIME HERE. BBQ'S CLEARLY aren't WORKING.
Fools. All of them.
The 6 homicides in 2022 equal the TOTAL homicides in the City of Alexandria from 2019, 2020 and 2021. Now, we are at 5 homicides less than half-way through the year. I've lived here for more than 45 years, and I cannot remember the entire City being in such a state. We used to worry about the Berg only. Now violent crime is seeping into all neighborhoods. The mayor can blame Covid all he wants, but this is 100% on the City's leadership - or lack thereof.

Why? He's literally done nothing but destroy the city.
I like my roads dieted and my neighborhoods dense so I'm guessing we don't agree on much.
