Ummmmm. Yes of course they are. I would be happy to get a pic. I’ve sent flowers to people only later to find out they were paltry and withered. A bad friend would say nothing Op. Breathe!

I would consider this normal. Sending thank you notes is rare these days. I sent my cousin an expensive baby gift and heard nothing but a “oh yeah, cousin Larla got your gift “ 2 weeks after it was received from my aunt. Consider yourself lucky they acknowledged it.

If you were looking for a reply with more praise then you're just trying to make the gift about your generosity rather than her celebration. Her reply was just fine.

Flowers = Text thank you
Wedding gift = Old fashioned thank you card in the mail
Kidney donation = Bust out the damn calligraphy pens

For a gift of 💐 flowers, I think a text message thanking you directly is acceptable.

If you were in any way offended by this response then I think it’s not healthy for you
to have such high expectations of others. A text saying thank you is totally acceptable to most people. I would rather receive no flowers than receive flowers from a high maintenance “friend.”

That's the way most people communicate these days. It is a nice way to show you what the gift looked like and thank you quickly - very old fashioned to write a note that might got lost in the mail.

I have had people never send a thank you or text to acknowledge a gift which is rude. I have had to text people to ask if it arrived or was delivered, and it takes two seconds to say thanks - so be glad that she let you know!

Did you not want a thank you? (Too formal for a friend?) Or did you want them to call or snail mail? (On their birthday just for flowers?) It’s hard to give advice when I can’t tell what you’re complaining about!
