The crazies are the ones who are trying to downplay what is happening to our environment.
Exactly. i guess it's willful ignorance.
No one is down playing it. But I can’t put out the Canadian wildfire with my garden hose in Herndon. It’s not like you are doing anything about it either, except panicking on DCUM.
Acknowledging it is not panicking. Discussing it is not panicking. Voting for people who take climate change seriously is not panicking either I suppose that's the part you're afraid of.

But this could literally kill you!
Not today. Probably not tomorrow.
So are you a smoker? You don't mind breathing in asbestos? You don't mind if your children die of cancer down the line? How odd. I care. I don't want my kids to get those small particulates in their lungs simply for being outside. I'd rather they have a long, healthy life than a short one with a painful death. That's just me.
You know people usually have to smoke for 40+ years before they get the cancer. A few days of smoky air isn't going to give your kids cancer.
Tomorrow is supposed to be Code Red. That means normal, healthy people should not spend time outside if they can help or exercise outside if they can help it. Why would they recommend that if it were fine?

As long as leftists are in power? Yep
If Republicans would address climate change I would vote for them.
If leftists would acknowledge that they need to do some cleanup on aisle 9, so to speak, they might get my vote. But they just blame it on climate change
What the eff are you talking about? Can’t any of you MAGAs ever just say what you’re talking about in plain english? It’s like you guys just keep making hints like you’re in on some secret riddle when in reality that’s why you’re so damn confused.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Here's a question - if smoke drifting over from hundreds of miles away is so bad... Isn't it bad to have bonfires and other controlled fires during the summer? Is smoke exposure worse from the wildfires that are in Cananda, or is it worse from the bonfire your kids are toasting smores over?
That's a common sense question - and yes wildfire smoke is significantly worse. For one, people typically spend an hour or two around a campfire, and the smoke quickly dissipates. Wildfire smoke, on the other hand, comes in humungous plumes and can linger for days or weeks. Wildfires smoke also contains much more pollution/toxic chemicals. It's not just breathing in burning wood but also pollutants from buildings and other toxins. It's distressing that this is now becoming part of life on the East Coast too.
Maybe people should stop driving giant gas guzzlers?

I work in an elementary school and the first go-round when school was still in session, I had kids in my classroom with red watery eyes, rubbing their eyes endlessly, and kids with asthma coughing their lungs out. The nurse kept sending them back and saying, there's nothing to do, they've already used their inhalers. Not sure why you think this is acceptable for America's children.
Can kids have a 504 to stay in from recess on orange and red days if they need it?
MCPS already kept them all in for recess. Also cancelled outdoor field trips and other end of year activities.
