I'm another Rest is History fan. Everything from the Aztecs to the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, with lots of British history as the backbone. It helps to be a history buff.

He’ll never not be a completely pretentious douche that I equally adore and loathe.

lol

Exactly!

Some of his insights are really spot on and make me think he’s a good guy but then he’ll occasionally say something so pretentious or arrogant that makes me roll my eyes.

But I enjoy his interviews.

He’s a nerdy geek on a lot of things and I find that aspect endearing and enlightening.

Switching gears:

Everyone should listen to Joe Rogan’s recent interview of Texas Democrat James Talarico. Smarter and more charismatic than Pete Buttigieg with similar mastery of unflappable direct answers.

The Good Whale, NY Times. It’s about what happened to the Free Willy Whale.

I am loving “The Turning” about the nuns who left Mother Teresa’s order. I listened with an uncomfortable and at times horrified facial expression. It’s fascinating in its own right, and also has me unraveling some of the beliefs I had growing up in the 80s/90s as a Catholic, and the zeitgeist worshipful impression of Mother Theresa. I had been looking for a podcast that would help me think critically about my Catholic upbringing (I’m no longer Catholic, my mom left the church due to its treatment of women), and I found that here.

Excited to check out the other suggestions, thanks again!

DP. I recently browsed this thread looking for recommendations and have been binge listening to The Turning, S1, about Mother Theresa and the Missionaries of Charity.
Thank you so much for this rec! So interesting and riveting. Highly recommend if you enjoy a good story behind the scenes of one of the most admired person and organization in the 20th century.

We loved this podcast! My family binged it driving to and from Florida in the summer of 2020. Wasn’t 100% appropriate for my 9 year old son at the time, but he really liked it, too. We still talk about it. He’s 14 now and I’m going through this list looking for something he and I would enjoy as we drive into and out of the District for school this year. Looking for something engaging with a little harmless suspense like this one. We did Last Seen about the theft at the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum in Boston and liked it, but not as much. Any suggestions for us?

Season 2 out and just as insane. It is about c-sections when the patient can feel everything.

The DC snipers one was FANTASTIC.

Ok but he is guilty.
