Find a good tailor and get your clothes done custom

Also take a trip to Italy or France every couple years - lots of low cost costura / sarta that can do full custom stuff for you

They aren't so much skimping on fabric as being deliberately vague about what fit should look like. Crop isn't well defined, so more people say good enough and don't return the pants. If fit is brushing the top of the shoe, almost everyone would need a tailor. 5'8" is taller than the fit model, and your inseam could be long for your height, too. The other option for a designer is sell a little long with the assumption that people will tailor, that may have been what worked for you in the past.

They put the models in larger sizes and clip the clothes back. Larger sizes are longer.
