That part was interesting but I didn’t understand how it related to the Duggars.
Josh worked for Family Research Council in DC and if his deviance wasn’t uncovered, most likely would have run for office. His younger brother tried and failed since then. The Duggars are very much politically minded.
Yeah I was shocked to learn that Jim Bob failed to win a state senate seat in Arkansas. He’s basically the Trump-loving MAGA base distilled to its purest form and yet he still lost in one of the most conservative states in the U.S. How did that happen?

Just don’t watch the show
There are plenty of weirdo’s

I don’t hate the family at all. I feel sorry for most of them (not Josh or Jim Bob though). And I feel scared about the ways the culture they endorse has the potential to injure people.
The show was always about a wealthy family with lots of kids
Nobody is interested in a show about a large family getting by on a school teacher’s family, in a city ghetto and receiving food stamps, free and reduced meals, in a 3 bedroom apartment

Anonymous wrote:Between the Duggar kids getting no financial benefit at all from their exploitation, the whole Gosselin family mess, and Jacob Roloff being molested by a producer, I'm embarrassed that I ever watched anything on TLC. Certainly not viewing anything on that channel again. What a bunch of gross voyeurs that we all enabled.

What they want is no less than theocracy. They really are like the Taliban. And of course they are led by giant hypocrites who are manipulating others for money and power. They are a huge threat to our democracy and our country’s values and we need to wake up and push back against this.
And for those who say it is “Christian bashing” well yes, it is if THIS is Christianity. If it’s not, then those who profess to be Christians who don’t agree with this also need to push back on this because the evangelical branding is taking over your religion.

How, exactly would progressive Christians effectively "push back" against evangelicals? They consider us misguided heathens and wouldn't listen to us any more than they would listen to Muslims. We are on opposite sides of the culture wars and see each other as enemies. If you paint all Christians with the same brush, that's your misunderstanding and you'd be well served by educating yourself.
A theocracy is infiltrating our legislature, our laws, our medical care, and and our schools. It's becoming very hard to tell what kind of Christian is what. Right now, Christianity is taking over and most everyone isn't going to stop to ask what kind you might be. Are you out there fighting this? If not- why not. If you are, what are you doing to stop it?
Or don’t. Like I said, I just don’t want to hear people complaining about “Christian bashing” when we complain about the evangelicals, because basically evangelicals appear to be the mainstream form of Christianity in 2023 and those people deserve to be bashed.
