When this thread first appeared, those of who said pretty much the same thing-fight back, do not let yourself get taken off that path--had our posts removed. Evidently, you can't even tell women to fight back now. I have no doubt in my mind that that man would never have gotten me off that trail if it were me. Of course, not blaming the victim, at all, but my husband and I have taught our teenage daughter how to defend herself and I know she would. With what the city is coming to, we have no choice.
Yes you are.
Do you believe in taking any safety precautions at all?

The maximum sentences are rarely given out, and they are rarely life (in MD, only 1st degree rape is eligible for life sentences).
Various groups, typically on the left, have come out against harsh sentences for felonies.

OMG this is not true. Quote any MoCo politician ever saying we should not give maximum sentences to rapists. You can’t because it’s jot true that MoCo wants to be soft on crime. You guys keep lying over and over.

My teen DD was stopped and harassed, including physical touching, by a mid-20s male on the walking path in Beach Drive right by the playground at the intersection of Beach and Garrett Park Rd. The local police and the park police both responded, and told us that girls and young women shouldn't trust any part of the walking path to be safe at any time of day. They recommended it always going in at least pairs and never wearing headphones. They also recommended getting a large dog to walk with.

Anyone want to bet?
- he has a very long criminal history, and would otherwise be in prison, but some local soft-on-crime prosecutor this rapist back on our streets, to rape, carjack, and rob.
Why do people vote for these prosecutors and legislators??
This response is rude-republicans worship themselves so much they make themselves the salve for every despair and and problem; you can't help it, it is your religion and hope

The guy had a MACHETE, good luck with that.
And, yes, you are victim-blaming.

On its face, I would agree with this. But overwhelmingly, the people who suffer from the increased crime are lower-income people of color. The UMC white "allies" generally do not.

It is a very Central American thing. Always has been.
