OP, if this is an outliner event, only happened once before - he needs medical help, medical understanding. Get some medical answers. Your pain, your kid's pain from last night will fade.

Instead, if this is his behavior. Monthly, several times a year -- more than twice in a long marriage --this is abuse. Abuse or addiction = divorce. And you should pursue divorce.

Not saying this is exactly what happened here, but drug-alcohol interactions can do insane things. I had a friend on heart meds who drank two gin and tonics and basically went insane - lost the ability to form coherent sentences and started behaving incredibly inappropriately in the middle of a fancy restaurant. I had to drag him home, he was trying to open the door and get out of the car in traffic. He was completely himself the next morning, talked to his doctor, and determined never to drink again on those meds.

Do you have an employee assistance program through your employer? That’s often a good way to get connected with a short term counselor while you look for someone to meet with long term.

You may also consider Al anon. I didn’t find it helpful, but a lot of people do.
