I'm so angry at my neighbor who is like "oh yeah, my kid wants to do fun outschool classes this summer instead of camp, so we'll use this money for that" when my child failed his math SOL and needs intensive math remediation that we now have to pay for out of pocket.
Blame Youngkin. Not other parents. His VDOE set it up this way.
It's free money. Of course people are lining up for it whether they need it or not. Even if some parents will forfeit it in favor of kids who need it more, many others won't

How do you determine who is more worthy of it? I call BS, and glad I voted the way I did.
Just spitballing here, but maybe put students with disabilities first in line? Youngkin has been a complete failure on doing anything for these kids. Too busy with his culture war BS. Same as it ever was.
The grant was geared toward covid learning loss not disabilities, although I agree and would like to see an increase of services for kids with disabilities. It was about his promise to undo the covid learning loss--he ran on this,he fulfilled his promise-whats the issue?
Sure. Because grants for outschool is helping SOOO much with learning loss. If he wanted to do something serious on learning loss, he could. This isn't it.
I dont know about you , but yes 4.5K is helping my family tremendously.

Same. Seriously, its ridiculous that VA was giving out tutoring money and the school district that flunked Covid so hard didn't want their families to know about it. WTF?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Has anyone used any of the money yet? Our school is requiring you to book two weeks out. It’s so frustrating when you need help now and tutors are available. You just need to jump through hoops to get it.
That’s a lot of complaining for $1500 of free money.
