This is obviously the hill you are choosing to die on. Just think if the shoe was on the other foot and you and your wife were having a spat and someone piped up and then defended themselves by saying, "I'm allowed to voice an opinion".

You are confused, you are not allowed to voice an opinion on something that has nothing to do with you if you are a person who respects boundaries and wants to get along with people. If you believe your opinion is so highly valued that you can trounce all over the choices of others you shouldn't be surprised by the outcome.
