It is.

No, it isn’t

Taking out hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans that you’ll be solely responsible for paying pack, taking premed courses, managing a crapload of shadowing & premed work experience (i.e. shadowing) requires a ton of maturity.

That's not a mark of maturity

For engagement or marriage?
What is the penalty if they disobey you?

Engagement. They won’t have my support.

How sad to alienate your child over that. Just know that you’ll never see your grandkids.

Lol I’m not worried.

If you’re mature enough to take out hundreds of thousands of dollars in unbankruptable student loans…

This. Read the premed Reddit thread if you want to be disabused of this notion.

I don’t think you should say anything and you should focus on the positives. She’s found someone she loves and shares her values and she is pursuing a career.

Above… not a problem to be single at 40 if you want to be single… if someone wants to be married with a family and you are not even dating, it is a problem

This. Also, I know some doctors who waited and are now single at 40.

Oh no! The horror of being single at 40!

You are missing the point. The people I know in this position feel like they prioritized their careers, never met the right person, and feel like they may never and not have a family. I know a male doctor and a female doctor in this position.

There is nothing wrong with being single at 40. I started a divorce at 40.

It is a problem to be single at 40…if you want to be single. If you still want a family, it is not a good spot to be in—male or female. They have not even met someone yet. Could be many years before a possible family.

They could have but they didn't and it's not because they prioritized their careers or whatever crap you or they are selling

They can legally marry at 18, and even younger in some states, without your permission. Nobody cares what you think.

I raised my kids to care what I think .

That's unfortunate. You should have raised them to think for themselves and make good decisions for themselves without your in put. . That you feel you need to keep them on a tight leash after 18 is a failure.
