Note: I am not talking about what to call relatives/neighbors/friends etc. I already know the answer to that.

What if you learned that your children are not supposed to be in charge of their parents?

My youngest is only two but absolutely refuses to say mom/mama/mommy. She calls me by my first name and it drives me crazy. I’ve only heard her say mama once or twice and it was before she turned one

Kids preferences based on what? What they heard their friend call their gds teacher? Or someone’s stepdad?

Parents need to parent. Kids need to listen. Using honorifics and social norms is a good place to start with manners and respect, worldwide.

The most inclusive terminology is birthing person & non-birthing person.

This is sad. A mom isn’t a mom now? Gone too far here.

Liberalism is a sickness

Some kids would prefer not to go to school, bathe, go to the doctor/dentist, or move out when the time comes.

Be a parent. Not everything is about preference.

I matters that a kid go to school. It matters that they go to doctor/dentist.
Why does it matter what they call you?

My kids call me Mom and I would feel weird if they didn't and probably discourage it. But at the same time, I can't think of a good reason why it matters.

There is a difference between giving into every preference, and picking your battles and being thoughtful as a parent about whether invoking that parental authority is worth it in a given instance.
