Raskin is way better known statewide than Trone and beat him in the primary for his seat.
A year+ in politics is an eternity, but I would call a Democratic primary for Raskin.
Trone has more money, though.
True, but it didn't help him in the primary for what is now Raskin's seat. The latter also beat Mrs. Chris Mathews in the same primary, without spending a lot of money.

Jawando doesn’t represent the present or the future of Maryland IMO. Maryland is solidly Democratic but not progressive.

Trone has more money, though. And Raskin has a few prominent positions in House leadership/committees and might want to stay there. Although I thought that about Adam Schiff and he’s running for Senate.
It will be weird - great but weird - if both US Senators are from Montgomery County. Usually statewide politicians are from the Baltimore area instead.
Are there any good Baltimore area candidates??

And if we could turn back the clock to the political atmosphere 10 or 20 years, he would probably win. Today, I don't see Maryland sending a Republican to the Senate.
