A gift basket of gorilla tape and clue, nice box cutters and blades, and some caulking at useful. Home depot gift card. Costco membership. If you do get kitchen stuff, a good chef's knife is always good. Drill bits and torque wrench kits are super useful too.

You had 20 extra place settings? How many did you own?
Around 80 place settings of dinner plates, appetizer plates, cups, bowls. We host a lot and my DH hates using disposable anything. He is not fussy about anything else but he cannot abide paper plates, plastic spoons, plastic cups etc. He also cannot stand mismatched cups, mugs etc. So, we have 80 of the same stuff for dinnerware, glassware, silverware etc. We use them for our daily use too. Usually we host up to 40-50 people twice a year, so, I can pass on these extras to both my kids. They both like our stuff.
