And pictures show the house to be quite far from the end of the driveway, this man is (unfortunately) an excellent shooter. He aimed to kill. Not the same as shooting someone very close range in front of you. Equally awful, but still if someone is driving far away, to get on your porch, aim, and fire, is just next level.

I also read this area is so remote there is no cell reception. The driver had to drive to the next town to get a signal to call 911. I speculate that these people couldn't get a cell signal to use a direction app like Waze which may have been how they ended up so lost.

We know people are crazy. This is why you can get shot for unintentionally cutting someone off in traffic. There are all sorts of armed and dangerous people out there. This really isn't surprising.

It's not at all a stretch when you consider that Fox News, the NRA, and Republican have been gaslighting their key demographic of white men. All three have convinced these people to believe that crime is rampant, minorities are out to replace them, and that the only solution is to arm themselves. What we are seeing here and in Kansas City is a direct result of this.

Here? Because mostly they are shady sales people. I answer if they are a neighbor, but it's not a really good idea to answer the door for people you don't know in an urban area, especially at night. Not answering a door does not equal shooting people. But I am also from a high crime area, with a former neighbor who was attacked because he opened his door at night to someone he wasn't expecting. Not answering is better than coming to the door with a fully loaded gun ready to shoot someone who may or may not attack you though.

I think FOX News and other media have a lot to answer for-- for making people, especially older people and people inclined to be paranoid, terrified of everybody and wanting to be armed to the teeth all the time. Those people shopping in red states with an AR15 slung over their shoulder apparently are scared of everything and think they will be attacked at any moment while buying milk or something. Some of my neighbors even seem terrified of kids going around and ringing doorbellls and running, much like I did in the 70s and 80s.

If people just didn't answer their doors instead of coming out with a loaded weapon, more people would be alive or not hospitalized today.

For the last 7 years I’ve been working home health mostly hospice status mostly elders. Even absent dementia, many elderly people suffer anxiety which worsens with advancing age and infirmity. It’s scary when you know you have no physical ability to defend or flee. In more than one client assignment I have had to endure FOX News on the TV at blaring elder volume from waking until bedtime and yes, that channel is pure propaganda in all but maybe one hour daily that is actual news. The hosts are all at loud decibel most of the time and stoking fear nearly nonstop. So I can understand the IRRATIONAL fear these men are experiencing but it doesn’t excuse what they did. Neither one was under any threat and no reasonable person could suggest otherwise. They will both die in prison and they frankly deserve that.

I live in Georgetown and today a black woman Secret Service Agent pounded on my door and said she was doing a background check on my neighbor. She had multiple badges . I was thinking, oh my God someone might shoot a Secret Service Agent because they are black. Yikes...America!

NP here, what is quite a stretch is to presume that killer is mentally ill. Do you presume that ALL killers are mentally ill?
