Are there any really academically strong D1 schools like there are in D1 and D3?
D2 schools kinda suck.
I wouldn't say that, but they tend to be regional offshoots of the flagships. Fine, but if you can get into the flagship, why wouldn't you?

OP here. I can't think of any he'd be interested in - he seems to be dialed in to "LAC's" with a strong military bent. Open to names, though!
And yes, PP. He's a strong contender in the D1 world. He just doesn't think he'd fit into the culture of a large university.
I'm a fan of SLACs, but really there are none to come to mind with a "strong military bent".

He's better than his dad. Not saying more since results are public.
But that doesn’t mean much. He should be faster. That is a far cry from being a realistic candidate for D1.
What I am trying to assess is whether your DH is realistic about actual D1 chances or not for your DS. There are exceptionally good swimmers who can be recruited by D1 but they have to be exceptional.
Stop trying to out OP.
Are you crazy? What are you talking about? OP can’t be outed by asking her if she is being realistic about her DS’s likelihood of recruitment. That is some insane paranoia.
