yes because UVA and VA Tech are so diverse. LOL!

Same! These endless DCUM threads don’t match with reality. Most of the kids from Nova going to UVA, VT and W&M are white. Just not the white kids of the whining parents on here.

OP, so share ... where else has your DC been admitted? Where else might they prefer to go?

Why didn't he apply ED?

UVA does like to take its incoming class from ED, so they don't have to resort to yield protecting.

Nope. It's a fantastic way to show commitment to your first choice school. You don't have to ED anywhere. Just don't whine about it later.

ED is only for rich people, but thanks.

UVA gives good FA for instate.

That's a lie, they don't give good FA instate. I don't know about OOS

Plenty of donut hole families that will have to pay $80 (many loans) for each kid. In-state tuition is a biggie. $320k for each kid is a huge 4-year college ask.

If you’re a “donut hole” family you have no business living in McLean.

WTF? We're a "donut hole" family living in Great Falls, in a small home. Who are you to tell others where to live?

Don’t whine about being “donut hole” when you choose to live in the most expensive town.

Do you know what "DP" means? I'm a DIFFERENT POSTER. Get over yourself.

DP. You were still whining…

Are you the poster whining about how "unfair" ED is?

No. Run EFC and take a screen shot. If they do not meet it, back out.

Whatever you say. You clearly don't know that you can still decline an ED school if they don't meet your financial needs.

Situation is not unique. My kid, 4.5, 1560 unhooked male from another FCPS HS was waitlisted at UVA. Didn't bother applying to Tech. Heading to an OOS public to study CS.

Anonymous wrote:No way! Students with this GPA has to be top 5 (not top 5%) students in a typical FCPS school. Something has to be wrong somewhere.

While having a good GPA is great, it's essential to know that you'll be competing against many other students with similar academic achievements.
Additionally, holistic admissions takes into account other factors besides grades.
