These neighborhood feature sidewalks, friendly neighbors, and are walkable to shopping, train stations and schools.

Yes. It’s a rare thing nationally-speaking how we have such high-performing, racially diverse schools in the DMV.


Bethesda is one of the whitest places I have ever seen outside of northern New England and upper Midwest. It is the epitome of white privilege.


Do you mean Potomac? Our BCC-feeding ES is almost comically diverse...like as if they assembled our kid's class to take a picture to advertise diversity.

It’s pretty clear some of the people commenting here have never been to the nicer parts of the main line and have no idea what they’re talking about. It’s like all gorgeous houses and golf courses.

you are right! i hadn't really thought about it, but it feels like everyone is either a doctor or their spouse is a doctor. like fully 50% of the parents at my kid's school are some kind of medical doctor.


I’d vastly prefer that to lawyers everywhere.

majority at Penn are like this .....majority in DMV are also like this...I never said everyone is....

My niece goes to a Philly area private k-12 school and from what her family has said, it seems much more “middle class” than that kind of school would be in the DMV, presumably because lower COL makes it easier to afford private. Lots of kids of city employees, accountants, middle manager types and teachers there.

In places with town school districts, there’s no rezoning, busing, magnets or lotterying into another school. You’re stuck where you are. If you’re in McLean, you’d probably love that. Someone in Annandale, probably would not.
