So many are coming from dumpy Red States or the dumpy Red parts of Blue states in search of drug. Once they get caught on a charge, they get escorted to their place of birth by an MPD officer on paid duty to cross state lines.
City Mayors really need to take a hardline on outsiders who come from elsewhere.
I’m sure homeless addicts will gladly produce birth certificates.
Vital records are all databased. A homeless person already has fingerprints in the system. Hell, if I was mayor, I’d hire a team of 5-6 researchers to figure out where they came from, track down next of kin, etc.
If you come in DC to do drugs and camp in public and generally be a nuisance, you get sent back to where you came from. If DC is your legit home, we will try to get you wrap-around services. The end.
Communities need to take care of their own and stop dumping their problems onto big cities.

Annnnnd what if they don't want to go?
Totally their choice. Either free nice countryside housing or mandatory trip to shelter. But you couldn't just stay on the street. Shooting drugs on the sidewalk and public defecation on the playground would no longer be acceptable.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:So how would they find job/rehabilitation while they’re out there in the middle of nowhere?
Employees would live on-site & security would be strong. On-site medical & addiction services. Busing back and forth to DC for additional resources.

What makes you think every homeless person already has fingerprints in the system?
Is this a joke? Most homeless people have severe mental issues or were recently released from prison.
Mentally healthy people don’t unroll a sleeping bag on a downtown street because they couldn’t make rent that month.

They aren't children or prisoners. Many homeless (and adults in general) do not want others telling them what to do and where to go. Many are not looking for services or housing. They prefer to exist day to day.
