My cousin was a grandmother at 34. (Kids at 15 and 16.) She is one of the sharpest people I know.

One of my most successful colleagues had her kids at 15 and 19. Grandmother at 35.

There are exceptions.

I waited til I was 41. Will probably be a grandmother at 80.

You are my generation and no one had babies at 24. And to want your 23 year old to have a baby soon is disgusting.

I am 35 and know tons of people from childhood who babies from age 17-24.

That doesn’t it sent make it okay. You are confining having children at 17 is indefensible.

Indefensible? Why? Let me guess you think that those babies should’ve been aborted instead. Gross.

NP. Let’s not promote or encourage teenage pregnancy for the love of God. That is separate from the abortion issue. You are gross.

I'm the poster who had my first baby at 24. I think there is a huge difference between having a baby at 17 and having a baby at 24. At 24, I had graduated college, had been married (yes--more than 9th months!) and owned a house. My husband was also a college graduate and had been working in his intended career for a few years. With the exception of our mortgage, we were debt free (no student loans.)
When I was 17, none of those things were true, or possible.

Pretty bad deflection.

There is more to raising a baby than finishing school and home buying.

Right, there’s hookups, drinking like a fish & yachting.

Or getting a job, dating, and maturing. Something that is foreign to you.

Having kids or marrying does not affect maturing or getting a job. How odd that you’d think it would.

Marrying before one is mature does affect one’s decision on who they choose to marry. Duh!

You know being 17 does not automatically get one pregnant.

Well, I would guess mine won't have kids until age 30, which puts me mid-60s when they theoretically arrive.

But, as we all know life is full of twisting and curves so there's no guarantee any timeline will happen. Or that grandkids will happen at all.

I had a grandmother who was 78 when I was born. She lived until I was a senior in college and was my longest grandparent relationship! So you just never know.

I didn’t “condone” anything. I am just stating my experiences & observations. You’re the one who said “no one from my generation did X” which is a load of crap. Of course you can’t speak for anyone but your immediate friends & family circle in that statement.

I have friends who just welcomed their first grandchild at age 70. I feel sorry for them that it's likely they won't get to see that one, or future others, grow up. I'm sure they will enjoy their grands first 10 or so years though.

How in the world were you a grandparent at age 42? Most inappropriate.

Maybe in your world. I got married at 18 and had my first at 19, my son got married at 20 and had his first at 22. Nothing inappropriate about it.

Your world is inappropriate.

Judgy much?

Yes you are.

I hope to be a grandma between 56-60. DC married last year and wants to wait a few years.

My aunt was a grandma at 34, great grandma at 52.
