If the people of the church all boycatted mass, the church corporation might actually hold themselves accountable to the people of the church. But alas, as long as people show up, then leadership thinks its business as usual.
“Mass” is a proper noun that requires capitalization.
Depriving oneself of the spiritual practices and sacraments of the Church as a form of protest is roughly akin to starving oneself to death to protest bad restaurant management.
I think systematic child abuse and the unrepentant covering it up is a bit more serious than “bad restaurant management.” If you’re not willing to sacrifice your spiritual comfort for your most vulnerable, what are you willing to sacrifice for? Nothing. And that’s what is going to change in this church- absolutely nothing. Don’t pretend like you’re helpless. You can choose to do something, you just won’t.

No Pope has ever claimed divine status. One who did would demonstrate material heresy and thereby depose himself from office.
Catholics believe that the Pope is infallible as to matters of faith and morals when he speaks ex cathedra, that is , from the chair of his office. The doctrine of infallibility has been invoked precisely twice in history: Mary’s immaculate conception (freedom ab initio from original sin) and her bodily assumption into heaven.

They knew that Father Maskell was ordained in 1965, removed from his first parish in 1966 for sexual activity with Boy Scouts, then moved to St Clement’s Church where he was in charge of a Boy Scout troop and abused boys and girls, then shuffled to our Archbishop Keough High School in 1967 after abuse allegations at St Cements. When our survivors came forward in 1992 - they said Jean’s was the first allegation of abuse they ever had against Maskell. Their lawyers portrayed our two survivors who tried to file a civil case as crazy/delusional/confused. The church knew the whole time they were telling the truth.
When our documentary was released in 2017, the AOB ran a PR campaign called Fact or Fiction and said our story was fiction. They published articles denying any prior knowledge of Maskell’s abuse, and this was while the current Archbishop Lori was in charge. They lied, over and over - further harming the survivors they allowed to be assaulted in the first place. Our story was true.
This is why more people need to boycatt attending mass in this diocese and demand some real accountability, showing up is acting complicit.

After being ordained (like The Keepers Father Maskell) they continued to torture and prey n boys more than girls - believing they could have sexual release without breaking their bow of chastity or being reporting.
Uh, zero studies except for the fact that it was almost exclusively men sexually abusing boys. Ask any truly heterosexual male if they would consider being with another man to satisfy their sexual desires and they will universally say no. I don’t need studies to tell me that. Again, let priests marry, and take the church back (as we are) and you will see the abuse go away.
I see that you want to keep blaming it on the gays, but guess what? Married men are perverts too. Married priests molested kids in the Episcopal and other churches, in the Boy Scouts, etc. What really sets the Catholic Church apart is the breadth of the depravity and the extent to which people just covered it up and went along. They had an infrastructure for administrative cover ups that the Nazi Germans would have admired.
But it goes deeper than that - the taint extends to the parents who ignored their children and forced them into these activities where they were abused, communities and the police that would hear no part in their church doing wrong, and most importantly- the people who still show up and give money every Sunday and by their presence and financial support, tell the church they still have enough power and support that they don’t need to ever atone for their crimes. Demand better, people.
