I do too and allow many things that would make DCUM clutch their pearls, but I still wouldn't let my kid go. With known friends, absolutely, no question. With people they've only met on the internet? Nope.

Yes I would let my child do this. I would make sure to talk to a few of the friends parents and have their cell phones just in case. Sounds like a fun day to see friends in person.

When I was 16 I flew to Spain by myself with two transfers. It was a program and they were supposed to meet us in New York but they didn’t. And I was from podunk town. And they let us walk around Madrid all by ourselves the next day.

Boston is easy and it sounds like she will just be going to the event. With phones, you can track her constantly and she can Uber if you’re worried she’ll get lost on T. Even if she gets stuck, you can rent her a hotel room remotely and she can do online checkin and digital key and they will never know it is a teen in the hotel room.

But I would also definitely at least text and likely call the other parents. Maybe set a zoom so you can talk logistics and that way you can eyeball them.

Yeah, they absolutely do not ask any questions. My teen DDs have been flying alone since they were 15 (not UM) and have NEVER once been questioned. They’re now in their 20s.
