Agree. All of these posts are nuts. Or not local?

If it happens TWICE, this is a person not doing proper maintenance for their trees. We have an arborist out every few years to check and trim ours. How many guesses OP has ever done this? Certainly should have after the first time! If I were OP's neighbor, I'd be furious if she didn't offer to pay the deductible the second time.

Healthy trees come down in storms. Ask your arborist about it.

Nope. Once in a blue moon, maybe, but not twice in a small yard. Let op tell us about the maintenance history (or lack thereof).

Trees will fall more often from a yard than a forest because the grass takes up so much more of their nutrients.

We have a wooded lot. New neighbor wife kept saying how nervous she was about one of our (perfectly healthy, per our tree experts) trees that was over her garage.

You know what I did? Paid to have those big branches taken down the very next time I had the tree guys out doing stuff on our property. Because I don't want her to worry! And it pays in the long run to be a good neighbor.

So you're not local. Got it.

Ok tree shamers just stop. in this area we have lots of Bradford pears (aka junk tree) that fall quite easily. Many of the Virginia evergreens are the same. Doesn't mean the was unhealthy. And no you don't need to pay or split the deductible as you son has offered to remove it.

After living in this area for 15 years, I see trees only as a potential hazard and the first thing I do when I move into a new house is to cut down all trees that are large enough to hit any structure if they fell.

I now live in an HOA and have instructed them to remove trees from a common area. "Noooo they're beautiful!!! You evil environmental terrorist." Well guess what, every 1.5 years or so one of these trees falls onto a house of an adjacent neighborhood. HOA says "NOT OUR PROBLEM." You hippy ass tree huggers need to get it together - this can destroy someone's life or ability to work just waiting at home so many days for contractors, insurance adjusters, etc. coming through. You're lucky your stupid tree didn't kill someone. What if it fell on a child's room?
