My DC actually has these two schools high on their list. Probably slightly prefers Tulane since we live in DC and DC wants to experience life in a different part of the country. There are actual a lot of similarities. Both have a lot of Catholic students, defined campus in a city, adjacent to restaurants/shopping/bars (M street vs. Magazine Street).

Tulane has almost 50% Jewish student population. Important if you are Jewish and want a safe environment.

The French Quarter and Garden District are interesting and there are a decent number of big companies to do internships etc, but not nearly the opportunity that DC has, particularly for kids who want Hill or Executive government experience (at least in traditional times)

+2 There is a Tulane hater on DCUM with no real experience at the school. OP, it is a wonderful school. The kids are super smart, engaged and friendly. You can’t go wrong with either school.

Why do people hate Tulane so much?

No one hates Tulane, people just have different views of its academic reputation.
