Now that this opportunity worked out, I am happy we didnt take the slot, I might not have ventured into considering private and overall we feel that this is the best fit for my kid.
Basis did not and dies not have a waitlist

Not a troll.
My kids go to Basis. Number 1 school in DC area for academics. You will have all your kids wishing they could get in in the next few years. I’m sure they will end up being more selective than all of your “Big 3” schools as they decline in academic quality and spend their time on Wokeness as an academic focus rather than academic subjects. Send info my kids to school to learn academics, not be taught about social justice, white fragility, defund police…….and that being a Caucasian is the root causes of everting evil in this country. Was not even born here and am South Asian.
Most people at DC privates are not even considering a school like Basis. They are selecting private for so many reasons and Basis does not offer that. I am glad you are happy there.

Kid got rejected from Basis….but got into Sidwell. So pissed.

What grade is your daughter in and why is she unhappy?
5th. She’s been experiencing bullying this year that is causing her to have panic attacks both in and outside of school. Administration’s response has been underwhelming and ineffective.
Did you apply to any of the k-8s? Maybe give it some time and call around. Middle school at a k-8 is often their sweet spot and kids do join in 6th and 7th.

He is coming from public and was not a legacy or recruited athlete. So, from what I have been seeing on DCUM this is an almost impossible outcome. Now its extremely hard trying to get him to make a choice so we can send rejections to free up the spot as soon as possible so other deserving kids can gain acceptance.
Congrats! Can you tell us a little about your child's profile?
He's a straight A's student in MCPS honors classes, plays two sports and has a very good personality that all of his teachers appreciate.
This has to be a troll
I am 100% not a troll. My DS is not perfect but he is very charismatic, funny, and smart. He knows it and tends to be able to gain acceptance in all circles and his teachers always like him. If I could post pictures, I would definitely prove it with the acceptance swag/info that he received.
My son is very charismatic, funny and smart too, but I would never describe him as having “a very good personality that all of his teachers appreciate.” It is just off. Troll.
Anonymous wrote:I’m going to say “4” - disappointed. Our kid got into everywhere they applied from DCPS but zero dollars in financial aid from any of them means none is doable.

This is really sad. Would you share the school or at least general location? DC or MD?

Anonymous wrote:Thrilled! Admitted for 9th for 4 of 5 schools, Big 3 being 2 of them. YAY!
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Thrilled! We applied to three schools for PreK, accepted at two and waitlisted at GDS (which had honestly become our third choice through the process). I can’t wait for the next few years.
Congrats. Where’d you get in?
Thanks! We were accepted at NPS and St. Patrick’s, both of which we absolutely loved.
