I use my china and silverware maybe 12 times a year. I also enjoy creating tablescapes. I like what this blogger has to say about using hers on a regular basis. I have the same antique sllverware she does (see the large spoon with the chrysanthemum on the back. It is from the late 1800s. I'm not about to give it away.

Good for you, but you're not helping OP at all. She doesn't want this stuff.

Put them on FB marketplace and someone will snap them up. I want a nice China set but they're all selling for $500 on FB. I can't find anything!!

I guess we are more traditional or old school than some here.
We were happy to receive a very nice china set from parents, along with some upholstered “brown” furniture. We use the china on holidays and special occasions. We also have a Spode Xmas set we use during the Xmas holidays. We bought complementary traditional furniture and put them all together in our living room, which we use all the time. We also have and use a formal dining room to eat together as a family for most dinners. Breakfast & lunch usually are at the kitchen breakfast table.

That said, we do use the silver and a few large serving pieces. We just don’t live in a huge home with endless space.

+1 I treasure the china, crystal, and silver that belonged to my parents, grandparents, in-laws, etc. Gives me a lot of joy to use it for special occasions, birthdays, and holidays. I love setting a beautiful table that's also sentimental.

Ask around or post it for free - a young person or couple may like it; or someone who never married and did not register might like it. A friend at church gave her moms set to an older single woman at our church. My SIL received a hand me down set when she was a new immigrant/grad student. Someone can use it and appreciate it. And there are a few of us crazies who love China and use it or display it. .
