It’s a great place to live. DMV and the elitist coast do not have a monopoly on quality of life and good schools. It’s also way more affordable to live out there.
Prefer this over all the equity diversity crap

You might not when your child is the only Asian in the class and starts getting comments.

My middle school (in a very LMC part of Pa) had all of this and more. Still does.

Zionsville has alot of charm but is also where all the old money is. Indiana overall isn’t a bad place to be, as long as you know what you’re getting into. Reasonable taxes and the state generally leaves you alone. People there are also extremely nice (Hoosier hospitality).
Also local lines drawn to carefully avoid poor people or black people in those charming school districts

Houses are only 1m-2m
Public schools are all 10 and the student body looks respectful and polite
Makes our McLean area and school look like trash despite it being 2x more. We live in a. 4m home.

And, I thought Fairfax County was lined up to become a city if the moratorium ever actually was allowed to expire.Anonymous wrote:what is the chance of the moratorium actually being allowed to expire?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Carmel is the McLean of Indiana but doesn’t have DC nearby for diversity training and entertainment.
More like Carmel is like McLean might be like in the future if Fairfax County keeps using McLean as a piggy bank to subsidize the rest of the county, while ignoring the roads and schools in McLean, and they start to seriously pursue incorporating as a separate jurisdiction when the Virginia moratorium on new towns and cities expires next year.

4% Hispanic, 3% Black. It sure is the American dream experience for some people.
This.
I love the Midwest, I do, but all the “10/10 schools” is such BS. There’s zero economic or racial diversity in many of these “amazing” towns.
PP from Indiana - no, it’s not diverse, but it’s also not like the deep south with confererate flags flying high. And they really are objectively great schools with tons of resources.
Republican supermajorities in the state house and senate and an abortion ban. That’s Deep South enough.
