Pissing off a man who wants to come in by not letting him in isn’t very smart either when you need to walk out that door yourself soon. If he’s going to attack you, he would just do it right when you walk out.

+1.
I don't think it's victim-blaming to note that she let him in. She didn't just buzz him in - she went to the door from the other side of the gym and opened it for him. Her attacker (consciously or subconsciously) was relying on the social conditioning that makes us feel uncomfortable for not being "nice" and helping someone out by letting them in the door. It's worthwhile to think about that in relation to your safety.

I called her to climb at the side of the trail towards me and both of us turned to face him. I pulled out my camera and started talking to my DH with the camera pointed towards the man. He moved away quickly from there.
DD and I walk with a knife and a pepper spray. Now we only walk on the streets near our house and at a time when other people are also walking. We have also seen drug trafficking on the trails. This is Black Hill State Park BTW. It is by ko mean secluded.
I had a similar experience. My 13 ish DD turned a corner on a trail and was out of sight for a minute. When I turned the corner, some strange man was stalking her, it was clear he was going to grab her. He saw me and stopped in his tracks and left. Still chills me to this day.

people stop doing that!!! unless you know the person lives in your building do not let them in. alternatively develop a better radar for dangerous v not. (NOT based on race.) This dude was disheveled and wearing slides.
And here is the victim blamer.
And how did she decide he was going to rape her? She was stupid for letting him into the gym and then cries rape.

Anonymous wrote:Our landlord at work owns all the building on each side of a four block stretch. They are opening a free gym to employees, similar to the one in the video. When asked by a coworker if I was going to use it, I said no, I'm not going to a random, unmanned gym by myself. He called me a gym snob. I guess I am, but I'm also not going to put myself in strange situations where I'm on my own. I'll stick to my current gym that is busy and has plenty of employees to assist if something goes wrong.
