Neither gamarra nor omeish do the work. They often don’t even show up- check the attendance records. Why do they want to keep the job? Just ego?

It appears that both Keys Gamarra and Omeish plan to seek re-election as at-large members. At least they allowed their names to appear on some straw polls held by local Democrats over the weekend.

Two others who appear to be seeking at-large nominations are Lawrence Webb and Kyle McDaniel. Webb is a former School Board member from Falls Church City who was instrumental in the renaming of George Mason HS and Thomas Jefferson ES in Falls Church City. McDaniel ran as an independent and moderate alternative to Elizabeth Schultz and Laura Jane Cohen in the Springfield District in 2019 and came in third place.

The phrase “Christian nationalist” also seems intentionally provocative. Is PP referring to a candidate who believes the U.S. should cease to be a secular country home to people of any or no religion and instead become a theocracy akin to the Islamic Republic of Iran, but Christian in orientation? Or just using the term to refer to any candidate who is Christian and still believes in the idea of a nation state (as opposed to being a globalist who opposes the idea of borders). Often the term seems to be used pejoratively to paint people who hold mainstream views as extremists.

Honest question, do you just slap the label "Christian nationalist" on a candidate because they get endorsed by the Republicans, or do you think the Republicans only endorse Christian nationalists?

Because when I think about the last round of candidates endorsed by the Republicans in 2019, some who either at the time or in retrospect seem like they would have made better School Board members that some of the Democrats who ended up getting elected were conservative in their views, but certainly not Christian nationalists.

This is a change from 2019 and I don’t want anyone to forget it. In 2019 they did not have the qualified voter caveat and Omeish got a ton of people who couldn’t vote in the regular election to vote for her in the FCDC sample ballot process. They did change their rules as a result but that doesn’t change the fact that largely based on their endorsement she won.

There was the woman in the springfield district who wasnt allowed to join, the one who kept going on fox news talking about how the dem led schoolboard was awful and was leading the recall petition effort. Why would she be allowed to join?

Why should she not be allowed to join? There are several Dems that think the schoolboard was awful? Most in Fairfax are left of center. Why should the fringe left be in control when they driving the school system into the ground?

I want no endorsements and no at large members. The board is too large and the county is way too big to expect a part time member to monitor all of its schools.

Actually, as long as I am fantasizing, I want to go back to appointed members (it wasn’t that long ago!) so we don’t have the clear political hacks like Frisch and Cohen.

The process sucks for both parties' endorsements, but the Fairfax GOP will be hard pressed to blackball you for criticizing local elected officials given that so few are Republican.

PP here. That should read "endorsement" not nomination. The committee decides who gets the endorsement. It is not a primary.

And this is what literally happens, leading to groupthink, and radicalization of a party now led by the fringe left. Can't critique Frisch for prioritizing a dog park over children's education and highlighting his lack of education, and lack of demonstrated critical thinking skills necessary for the position of SB.

One the other side, the party 'that shall not be named' did take in converts, and dealt with their own civil war over the issue that 'their candidates were not true conservatives.'
