I grew up playing Spades, my husband’s family was Hearts. My older relatives all knew Bridge and claimed we would all learn one day but no one seemed to have the same motivation for that one and now they are all gone.
My kids play Spades and Hearts. We will probably teach them Euchre and Pinochle which we learned from friends who play them as their family’s game.
Are those the main 5?

I remember watching so many games as a kid but I have no clue how to play pitch or whether anyone outside of that community even plays it. I should’ve asked my dad but he’s gone now.
My mom plays some cards but is more into mah jong now.
We loved to play Pitch in my family. When I went to college, we would play Euchre which is very similar.
We also played a lot of Rummy and Gin Rummy. And Michigan Rummy, though you need a board for that. I dont know if I would remember how to play any of those games now.
We still have a Michigan Rummy board at my parents' house. I loved Pitch as a kid and played Euchre all the time in college. I don't think I could tell you how to play any of these games anymore.
. I should teach them Hearts though, it's a classic.Anonymous wrote:What was your family’s game? What other classic card games do you know and will you teach your children?

Dh and I can't wait to play spades when our kids are old enough (middle school?).
