This. Now class size is smaller and they do often weed out the behavior problems, but there are rich donor kids who can behave terribly without much consequence. If he is a great teacher they may leave him alone, but wealthy parents can be extremely entitled when paying high tuition. That said, if he starts in March, they usually wait a month or 2 before complaining so he may finish the school year unscathed.

The best thing to do is just get on some medication and stick it out. I did that for a non-teaching job once. Took antidepressants to deal with a nasty boss and once I could leave without consequence I did and I got off the meds.

The whole "leaving with prejudice" thing is so irritating. At one point if you resigned in the summer (in FCPS) after June 15th, you were considered leaving with prejudice. It almost has no meaning when it's applied that broadly. Some schools can be completely toxic, so I don't know if OP's brother is exaggerating.

It’s not a simple response if the teacher feels that they can no longer serve their students without it endangering their own health and well-being. It is better to leave than to shortchange students or harm one’s self.

This is so dramatic and such a GenZ snowflake position. Pray tell what is so terrible he can't suck it up until June? Its not "endangering his own health and well-being." Sweet Jesus.

NP. Exhibit A why you are losing your teachers.

I’m an EL teacher who works with a first year, male, LCPS teacher I’m curious if this is him. He seems very overwhelmed and doesn’t seem to like it much. He also seems pretty lazy and surprised by the workload. He surfs the web a lot. Like during math workshop.

They simply said they didn't like the Principal. Surprise, many don't like their admin.

Not liking the principal is common. Not liking the principal enough that you feel the need to quit mid-year is extraordinary and probably indicates extreme stress. I could see my younger self characterizing my fear of an abusive principal as not liking them.

This and he should investigate it himself and not leave it to the private school. If he wants to continue as a teacher in any capacity, protecting his license should be the goal. If he needs to stay put until the end of the year, there will still be many opportunities.

Many private schools don’t require a license at all. He’s already been hired at one.
