I don’t think so. His “supporters” are flighty and he’s been spending his political capital alienating everyone else. If he keeps pissing off people at this rate and doesn’t actually deliver anything, I can foresee a primary challenger and it because he’ll be an incumbent there will only be one or two so he cannot win by splitting the vote 6 ways. Strong chance he loses if a reasonable candidate emerges.
That reasonable person is not Eric Goulet.
It probably won’t be because most of Frumins primary votes were votes against Goulet. However a one-on-one contest against someone like Trish Duncan and he loses.
You mean the person who garnered like 10 donations in the 7 weeks between the Cheh endorsement and dropping out? Not likely. She is great, but needs to spend a lot more time learning about DC and the Ward before she is truly viable.
After 3 more years of weathervane “what do you think?” Frumin, it would definitely be a contest.
At least one candidate was shocked Duncan dropped out given that she was leading according to that candidate's internal numbers. Looks like one of the recent Citypaper pieces also mentions that Duncan was leading Silverman's poll.
That candidate's internal numbers must have been way off because she never garnered any traction beyond a cadre of Palisades residents. Even after the Cheh endorsement, she was not able to capitalize any support.
Or maybe she was told that she was leading everyone but Goulet and Frumin wasn’t going to drop out so if she didn’t take one for the team Goulet would win. Seems like the kind of strongarm tactics Silverman is capable of.
Perhaps, but you can look at the donor cycle. Duncan had like 10 donations AFTER the Cheh endorsement. 10. That is not exactly the reflection of a candidate who was viable down the stretch.
