I applied for DC as "outside of APS" coming from catholic school. I got the waitlist #23 but I logged into School Mint as soon as I got the text. Maybe APS stopped counting after #100> LOL

Yeah - I really do think somebody needs to flip a switch to release data relating to certain allocations/accounts. I assume enough people have alerted them to the problem and they’re working to fix it. Yesterday was a nightmare for APS (Wakefield emergency), so it’s not too surprising if it takes them an extra day to iron out a glitch in how data is displaying on schoolmint. If it takes much longer, though, they should at least acknowledge the issue and explain.

For IB, sure. That is suspicious for HB, considering I never saw movement despite being spot 5.

I just callled APS to try and get the waitlist number but couldn't get through. According to their website, they're supposed to share the waitlist number.

If my child does not get a seat in the lottery, will I find out their waitlist number?
Yes. Families will receive information about their waitlist number on the date specified in each timeline. APS will offer spaces to families on the waitlist, if available, after the deadline date for accepted families to accept or decline their seat. Families can log in to their account to check on their waitlist status and monitor any movement.

My kid was I think #5 on the waitlist going into 9th grade a few years back and got in (before 8th grade ended). One or two declined in favor of the IB program at W-L, one I think was mad that her mom had even entered her in the lottery without her permission and immediately refused to go because she wanted to stay with her friends, one I think also got into the Career Center and went there instead.

That’s obviously not entirely true given that most people were given their number, but there’s likely a setting that an administrator chooses when results are released. I’m assuming they’re either double checking something with certain allocations, or somebody just forgot to toggle things from private to public.

The HBW waitlist for HS definitely moves. My DS was 4th on the waitlist for a 9th grade spot for his middle school allocation. He eventually moved to #1 on the waitlist just before school started. He was offered a spot a few months into the school year. He ended up declining because at that point he liked his schedule, classes, and teachers at our neighborhood HS and didn’t want to switch schools mid-year.

DP- some 9th graders go private and some are applying for IB. Other kids really want to play sports at their "home" school and do not want to balance HB/home school back and forth for that. Some parents chose HB in MS for social reasons and their kid no longer has those needs and/or desire to go to HS with their "home" school friends. Lots of reasons why the HS list moves more than the MS list.
