I just bought 5 dozen eggs at Costco for $15. Yes, that was overkill but I was in a hurry so just grabbed what was right in front of me.

My friends have been asking about this so I'll do the math for you:
I have three chickens and in the winter I get three dozen eggs a month (way more in the summer).
The chicken feed is now costing $30 a month - twice as much as last year.
So I'm paying $10/dozen with backyard chickens. Sure they're totally organic but I'm not saving money. It's a labor of love.

But everything else at WFs is so darn expansive your total grocery bill will be higher….unless you go to multiple grocery stores and the. You need to factor in cost of gas!

I saw that price too, but those were all gone. I got the extra large instead and they were still 4.79.

NP. That poster says “KFP for the week”. KFP is kosher for Passover. Kosher food is already expensive, and it becomes ridiculously more so for Passover (if you’re not aware, the rules are stricter). And if you observe Passover strictly, not just “I don’t eat bread for a week”, then you have to buy almost everything new and KFP. Plus, if you are hosting the Seders, that’s an additional expense. My in-laws observe Passover very strictly plus have a lot of people over for the Seders, and it’s easily $1,000+ for the week.


Tough!! This sounds like a problem of over privileged people and I don’t feel sorry for them. Eat quinoa!

I go to a restaurant depot and buy five dozen for under 4 a dozen but realize not everyone has the cooler space for that.

If you buy $8 eggs then you’re making a choice to do so. Own it and stop whining. There are plenty of cheaper eggs both at Wegmans and in other stores.
