That’s very sweet. My dad did the same. DH has a t-shirt from DC’s school and will probably wear that for many years, too.

Maybe they are just proud of their kid?
I'm proud of my kid, too. We'll wear logoed gear to her games (D1 at a good school), but not out and about for the same reasons I don't wear an hermes purse or a gucci belt. And I get invited to plenty of parties.
Amuse us with the reason.
Because we don't need to show off. Having our daughter play a sport at a school such as Stanford doesn't make her or us any better than the next family. We're proud of her, but we love her for who she is not what she's accomplished. We never wore logoed gear from our alma matters around our kids. We didn't want our kids to feel they needed to attend a certain school to be worthy of our love.
What on earth? Holy overanalysis. I don’t wear any gear from my kids’ college either, but simply because I am not a “spirited” person and it never crosses my mind to buy anything (plus I give the college plenty of dough via tuition …). But I don’t view wearing clothes with your kids’ college names on it as bragging. I see plenty of cars that have Yale and UMD stickers, or Syracuse and Stanford - the parents are excited for all the kids!

I’ve also been to sporting events for her school. Honestly, this seems pretty normal, and even low key, to me. I’m from Florida, and repping your school is an art form there. I can’t imagine how hard some of the DCUM posters would judge the displays of school spirit there!
I think the judgy-poking posts are by trolling teens, frankly.
Kid beat the odds and got into her dream Ivy, so we were thrilled. We have car magnets and fridge magnet. DD got hubs a tshirt and mug. Wish I looked better in clothes (gah, need to exercise), then I would get a tshirt or jacket too.
