If your child is in 6th I'd get an educational eval and hire a lot of tutors to start. If your child continues to struggle at the end of the year and into 7th then I'd seriously start looking for other schools including possibly starting a new school in 8th.

A lot of kids have difficulty in middle school but they get better study habits within a year or two. It's hard to say now whether your child actually needs a new school.

DD has two friends who left after 8th from a Big 3 for other schools that are academically less pressure filled. They are both doing well last we heard.

Just find a school where your kids are happy... life's too short and he or she will be just fine
