You're just as likely to get covid anywhere else as in a restaurant. Truth be told, you're much more likely to get it from close family and friends, not passing strangers at the supermarket.

+1 I have been screaming this from the hilltops. Much more likely to get it at the house of someone you know and hang out with for hours than you are passing a person for 5 seconds in the frozen foods aisle. And yet people are convinced they’ll get it from strangers and that their cloth mask in the Giant is what’s keeping them safe.

We aren’t wearing “cloth masks.” The masks cautious people wear in 2022 are indeed very effective at preventing COVID transmission when worn correctly (which yes, they are and yes, we’re sure).

I do like eating outside for the ambience, but that's the only reason.

Stop spreading lies.

I know a ton of people who still feel this way.

Ignore the trolls.

And why do people care? Honestly who cares if some people only eat outside or order in that is their business.

Oh dear the MAGGOTS got their panties in a wad because now we have POLIO back ......Nah they are too stupid to figure out that science.

A "troll" is not someone you disagree with. Everyone (Maggots and non-maggots included) are eating inside again, this is the majority position, you understand that right?

No, “everyone” is not eating inside again. You understand that, right?

No. But by posting it here, you’re going to get a bunch of idiotic, childish replies demanding you oMg sToP LiViNg iN FeAr and immature people who will tell you how they’ve spent the last two years licking doorknobs and leaning into strangers’ sneezes and “still no COVID.” Just ignore.

This, I truly don't understand why people are still "afraid" of Covid? You're going to get it. And you're very likely going to be fine.

My father died from it last week. He was 80 but mostly healthy. He had all the shots. Covid started a downward spiral for him that ended with sepsis.

You realize 80 is a perfectly normal age to die right?

Not when he wouldn't have otherwise. What a stupid comment.

Here in Europe it's back to business as usual, people eating out in large groups, kissing each other on the cheek, the usual joy and merriment.

I really havent even thought of Covid in several months.

The only place in the US that I’ve seen this is DC. It’s a hot bed of anxiety and mental illness.

That’s true. But at least I know that my close family and friends have not tested positive for COVID. And I see a difference between passing by someone at the store, and sitting near a group of people for an hour or two when all of us are unmasked. I’m happy to do takeout when it’s too cold to eat outside.

You realize that when your family and friends have tested positive for Covid, they have passed their peak of infectiousness?

If this is your standard, you’ll never done inside a restaurant again. Which is fine with me — easier for me to get a table.

We do very little inside still and are always masked.

We occasionally go out to eat but outside only.

I am with you OP! And, I have not gotten Covid yet. I love that sensible Americans are doing what Europeans have always done- i.e. eating outside regardless of the weather. Also, I will always wear a mask in airports/planes for the rest of my life. And, I hold all of my office meetings outdoors.

+2 never got COVID from stores, international travel or restaurants.

Did get COVID from my mother. Which is fine! I had a cold for 3 days.

We eat outside a lot, but largely because we like it (I'm a Parisian sidewalk cafe kind of person). And because we have a toddler and her typical noise level is more acceptable and easy to blend in outdoors, so it's more relaxing when dining as a family.

I imagine we'll go back to indoor-only when winter hits.

I’m in the same camp (or mostly, I’ll eat indoors if there’s like only 3 or occupied tables in a large restaurant, or once when a thunderstorm started and they literally told us we weren’t allowed to remain outdoors because it was a liability/insurance thing.

I’m going on vacation leaving Tuesday and while I’ve chosen a destination that should support patio dining, the forecast isn’t looking promising so I’m a little concerned.

That’s nice. You’ve been to every country and checked it out? Good to know. I’ve often wondered what it would be like to live in places with universal health insurance.

Thank you! It is nice. Lucky me I guess! Maybe you can experience it one day, if you wish really hard...

Anonymous wrote:Definitely not the only one. We travel often, but never do anything indoors that we can't do with masks on. Eating outside in Boston now for 2.5 years.

Dining indoors is one of the most risky if not the most risky situations for covid and other airborne diseases. Not worth it when there are so many beautiful patios.

People in Boston are reasonable. The schools did well with test-to-stay, improving ventilation, and posting in-classroom air quality measurements online for accountability. https://www.bostonpublicschools.org/Page/8810
