The thread is not to question my involvement. It is to discuss avenues available to parents to protect kids in this scenario. All the parents want is for the pusher to stay the f away from their kid.
The first sentence of your original post literally states that this was a joke. So which is it? Get your story straight. Or do I smell troll?
The victim was not in on the joke, did not see/expect the pusher and suffered a concussion. The pusher said it was a joke.
OP

Middle school. I do not want to give out the family's details. Thank you.
Then why ade you posting about it?

No meaningful history between the two kids, no history of the other child assaulting others.
The kids is in shock, is afraid to go to school. The parents (my friend and spouse) want to ensure school takes action to prevent this from happening again. The school won't release video (this was caught on a security camera) or tell how they will address this.
What are some things that the parents can do? Does it make sense to consult a lawyer? They just want steps taken to protect their kid/prevent the kid who pushed from approaching their kid.
Thank you!!
I mean, something similar happened to my DC in 9th. Kid pulled out chair as DC was sitting, DC fell and hit head. Teacher saw it. Nothing was done. It was a joke (they are friends) but still would think SOMETHING would happen to the kid who pulled out the chair.

This. Even if school admin wants to come down hard, they will be discouraged to do so. Filing a police report and getting attorney will force action.

The Fairfax County police came out with a big press release after the chronic abuse at Freedom Hill in which they asked community members and parents to report crimes to them directly instead of to the schools. The police force was sick and tired of FCPS getting away with covering up crimes that occur within their walls.

Jesus this board has become an angry mob of adults seeking out revenge on a kid.
Nice work people, nice work.

Anonymous wrote:If I were the kid’s parent I would at least want to see the video. It’s weird that the admin knows it was caught on camera but refuses to show it. Why are they hiding it?
Also, no documented history isn’t the same thing as no history. The fact that the kid who was shoved is terrified to go back shows that he believes it will happen again.
