We were also force to stand in FCPS graduated from high school in 2008, I am now teaching at that same high school, only a few kids stand up now.

A pledge that most have long since stop reciting by MS because they realize a) they don’t have to, b) it’s has no meaning to them, c) the words lack truth in reality, and d) who really cares if they say it because it’s just a routine of the day.

I’m a high school teacher and I recite it. A lot of my students do, quite a few don’t. A lot of times, I think it’s just laziness, not some political statement. Since they don’t have to stand up, they don’t.

I don’t and none of my high school students do either.
I find it creepy and militant like. My second grader said she does it at school because everyone does. She doesn’t know it’s even a choice. Not a discussion I plan to have with her any time soon. She can say it if she wants.
But it makes me cringe.

If the private school I attended actually did some research into the Pledge, they never would have had us say it first thing every morning!
