Like $1000+ a month

Just a note that some insurers don't cover it as a normal drug, but offer a 'special' price. My insurer offers Wegovy for about $700 a month.
You should call and ask.

And somehow 700/month is affordable??! That is seriously how much you pay??!

Eli Lilly offers a coupon that allows you to have it for a flat $25 a month (4 pens). The coupon is on the Lilly site. It requires you to be on a commercial health plan (no government plans) and pharmacies have to bypass your insurance and process the coupon correctly for it to be $25.

I’m really curious to see how this evolves longterm. My DH is about 50lb overweight and I don’t think he could ever lose it dieting.

FWIW: I have been on Mounjaro since mid-July and have lost 30 lbs. I am no longer pre-diabetic, BP is down, and I am now right smack in the middle of "healthy BMI." Side effects were mild-- most bothersome was occasional nausea, but going back to 2.5mg solved that.

I did want to say: this is not just about the quality and quantity of what you eat. I was already eating healthy foods in moderation-- but until I started taking this med, weight continued to just creep up a bit more each year. I do not think I eat less now, and I definitely don't eat different things: I am just losing weight on the same diet.

Like all drugs, this obviously affects different people somewhat differently, so I don't know if this would be true for you, but clearly the medication acts through ways other than just reducing appetite.

No, but if you couldn’t eat well and controlled without the medication before why would you be able to do it once stopping the medication? It works for weight loss because it suppresses your appetite and adjusts hormones. Those effects goes away once you’re off the medication. Hunger will return and your body will work extremely hard to put the weight back on.

Are there any feds who are getting this covered? If so, which plan do you have? I've been paying out of pocket for Ozempic but about to start a fed job and hoping I can choose one that covers it or Mounjaro.

Everybody and their cat are going to be on these in the next two years. At least those who can afford it; they're not going generic any time soon. I'm kind of dreading how it will change our culture but it will be interesting. Being thin is going to be perfectly accessible to all who have the money.

Here's one cat that's giving this a try due to this thread. I saw this thread this morning and already have a prescription called in. Really excited to give this a try.

How did you get an Rx without being seen? Through your PCP or using a telehealth site?

Telehealth. I just googled Mounjaro prescription and found pushhealth.com. It's a really nice platform.

Thank you! I'm borderline with the amount of weight I need to lose. I'm wondering if I'll still be charged the fee if they say I don't qualify.

Thanks for this thread. I am 54, 5'3" and similar weight as some of the PPs. Until about 8yrs ago I never had any weight issues (was size 4 for most of my life.) and frankly as the weight has crept up, I've been too embarrassed and guilt-ridden to say much to my doctor beyond promises to try to eat less. But after reading this thread (and the many before it on the other meds) I just sent a message to my primary care physician asking to try Mounjara.
