My DC went to FHS got an excellent education had a great 6 years there. Flew through college. Great experience overall. There is really no comparison to FCPS. We found FCPS to be a very slow overwhelmed school system. It was a huge relief to leave.
It’s odd because a lot of parents whose kids are thriving in FCPS have seen kids who were slow and overwhelmed in their kids’ classes end up at Flint Hill. It may be a good match for those kids, but let’s not pretend Flint Hill is even at the level of an Oakton or Langley academically. It’s not.
We got a meth addict in the chat.
That’s the level of your discourse? No surprise given the overall mediocrity of your school.
It was probably written by one of the "second" wives that like to think of themselves as "trophy Wives." You know, the ones that teeter around on stilettoes that are way too high for their ability to walk in.

I have a kid in the upper school. They have very advanced classes for very advanced kids. Lots of Nysmith students go here. My kid is sporty and academically average, they have classes and sports for him. Some kids are artsy, they have an amazing arts, dance, and theatre program. Their robotics program is top notch, they beat colleges in competitions. Their latin department is the best in the region.
They have students from Maryland, Alexandria, DC, all over Northern Va. It's exceptionally diverse which matches the diversity of the areas the students come from.
Do I care how the school came to be? No. We all live in America right? We all know how this country came to be. It's not stopping you from living here.
This!!! And yes, incredible robotics program that wins competitions against big name college teams. Incredible classics/Latin department. Wonderful visual and performing arts. Athletics for top athletes and for the less athletic kids. We have a 9th grader and are very happy! There seems to be one really bitter person posting on every. single. thread about Flint Hill. I am thankful that whoever she is, she is no longer a parent at the school!

I care how FH came to be. I live in this country because, like most people who are born, raised and educated here, I chose the path of least resistance. However, avoiding FH is VERY easy. It’s extremely simple to avoid paying $48,000 annually for an aggressively mediocre segregation academy. I would be embarrassed to send my children to FH for free. I can’t imagine paying for that humiliation.
But to each his or her own.
You sound hysterical.
Therapy helps.
No therapy needed. I just avoid having my children educated in segregation academies. Result: peace and harmony.
